If I were a perfect blogger, I’d plan ahead, write my Monday blog Sunday. My Friday blog Thursday. Just like if I were a perfect writer, I’d get up every morning at 6:00am and write. But I’m not perfect, not at all. But I am working to be more consistent in my writing. I have my Thursday morning’s with my friend Jenny and now my Monday/Friday blogging that I have been good about doing, just not always in a timely manner.

This morning as I was about to sit down and write, I made a couple of quick phone calls to see if I could get enough girls for a Junior Varsity game before our Varsity Summer Basketball Practice game that I would be coaching Thursday night. I had contacted the others teams coach two months ago to schedule the game and reserved our gym. On the phone, a parent told me they would be at the middle school 8th grade promotion Thursday night. I was not happy. Not because their daughter wouldn’t be able to play, but because I know where the 8th grade promotion is, the gym where I’m supposed to be having a game. I now had some more calls and emails to make before I could write.

This is why it’s hard to sit down and write, life gets in the way. After writing this blog, I’m going to do some yard work and then I’ve set a “date” with that writer in me for 11:00am (2 hrs minimum). And that’s how I have to work, a bit at a time, between life; walking the dogs, paying the bills, rushing to a casting and chauffeuring the kids. Tucking away bits of time for my pen to hit the paper.

Set a “date” with yourself to write, sing, play. Take some time to do what you love.

Writing Prompt: You wake up in a “perfect world”. You have everything you want and could ask for, except, the people you love. Write about your first day. A month later?
